Cardian Matsu After a period of more experimental work (which I loved as well), I'm very delighted to see qualchan. doing a lot of their earlier loop-based work more modern justice.

Every small flaw that was in the earlier productions (talol. and vertumnus. would probably be the most 1:1 comparisons) has been ironed out, the vibe and tone is more consistent than its ever been, and the dreary synths that pop in now and again are an incredibly nice touch. Favorite track: work..

about

Beamed to us straight from Portland, Oregon, The Book of Sleep. is the latest salvo in multi-disciplinary artist Qualchan.'s woozy, intoxicating discography. Like his recent releases on Houdini Mansions and Strategic Tape Reserve, this is some seriously hazy shit; like a New Age journey through the Pacific Northwest as filtered through the ghost of DJ Screw. Dubbed ‘Now Age’ by the artist (the 'Now' a reference to the Anthropocene - that hallucinatory period of time we call home), this is music handcrafted for the long, lonely summer nights that no doubt lay ahead.
